QLD - The Social Run
Come for a fun drive and see some magnificent views over The Sunshine Coast. We have joined up with BMWCQ and have invited several other local car clubs along, so you'll see some cool machinery - and meet some cool people!
NOTE - Due to some late permitting issues this event is no longer a point scoring round of the ICC. It is now just a social drive. We will collect some economy data from a few cars to inform the scoring system that will be used in a future official event, but there will be no scoring or prizes.
What do I Need?
A road registered, road worthy, insured vehicle, at least one passenger to be your navigator, and a charged up mobile phone as you will need to send photos along your journey. You could do the run without a navigator, but we want this to be a social, family-friendly event!
If you have a UHF radio, please bring it along. We'll use channel 18 on the day. If you don't that's okay, just call me on 0419 671 006 if you get lost.
Make sure you've saved the link to this page so you can click the Google Maps links along the way!
Where will this take place?
We will be starting and finishing at the Shell Service Station at 4288 Bruce Highway (Southbound) Glasshouse Mountains. This location also has an Evie Charging Station. The route we will drive will consist of local roads, highways and hilly scenic roads.
The link is to Google Maps so you can just click the link to the next stop and your phone will tell you where to go.
You can also see the complete route here.
Why are you asking for my car’s rated economy?
On the entry form you will be asked to supply the official combined rating for your car in l/100km or Wh/km and its make, model, and variant. This is optional and is only used to test out our formula for a future economy test event.
You can get this from https://www.greenvehicleguide.gov.au/ or from any original adverts for your car.
What do I do when I arrive?
If you want to help collect some efficiency data, please top up your car (full for ICE, 60% should be plenty for most Teslas) when you arrive and then park towards the back of the Maccas car park. When we return, we'll top up again (to the same percentage) and note the litres/kWh from the bowser/charger and the kilometers you traveled for the day into our spreadsheet.
As there are only two chargers and quite a few EVs registered it may be a good idea to get there at 8AM if you are bringing an EV and want to participate in the economy data gathering.
Where will we Celebrate?
We hope you will have a fun day and if you have any questions, please get in touch via the details to the right!
