QLD - ICC Economy Run
Come for a fun drive and see some magnificent roads and views around Lake Somerset. We have joined up with ICC and have invited several other local car clubs along, so you'll see some cool machinery - and meet some cool people!
Motorsport Australia Permit 424/1105/01
What is an Economy Run?
Drivers in an Economy Run follow a mapped route, using their best fuel and battery-preserving skills with the aim of showing their vehicle has the highest kilometres per litre/kWh at the finish.
All Road Registered Vehicles are Welcome!
Pick the vehicle from your fleet which you believe will get you the win.
How do I enter?
Click the BUY TICKETS button and complete the details for your tickets. Entry is free!
If you are not a member of TOCA, AEVA, BMWCQ, etc, you will need to be a member of another car club that is Motorsport Australia affiliated to enter. Points in the ICC series will count towards your club.
What do I Need?
A road registered, roadworthy, insured vehicle, at least one passenger to be your navigator, and a charged-up mobile phone as you will need to send photos along your journey. You could do the run without a navigator, but we want this to be a social, family-friendly event!
If you are bringing an EV please print and complete the MA Statement of EV Compliance form
If you have a UHF radio, please bring it along. We'll use channel 18 on the day. If you don't, that's okay, just call me on 0419 671 006 if you get lost.
Where will this take place?
We will be starting and finishing at the HomeCo North Lakes car park near the Tesla Superchargers at 95 N Lakes Dr, North Lakes QLD 4509. The route we will drive will consist of local roads, highways, and hilly scenic roads. All are sealed.
The link is to Google Maps, so you can just click the link to the next stop and your phone will tell you where to go.
You can also see the complete route by clicking here.
Do I Win a Prize?
Yes, you do! Prizes will be given for the Best and Worst scores. Categories are being finalised and will be advised prior to the event.
What are the Rules of the Game?
In addition to the 2024 ICC Guidelines the following supplementary regulations apply:
- Drive according to the road rules and signed speed limits.
- Follow the mapped route and have photographic evidence of yourself at each checkpoint (Take a selfie with you, your car, and the view from the checkpoint!)
- Do not add fuel or charge to the vehicle once the game starts. If you witness anyone filling on course, please take a photo and share it with the scrutineering team.
- Do not switch vehicles along the way.
- Arrive at the checkpoints and finish line within the designated time.
- Attend pre- and post-course scrutineering so scoring data can be collected.
- All cars MUST have both a driver and a navigator, i.e. two entrants per car.
- Both the driver and navigator MUST nominate the club they are representing for the event.
- The driver and navigator in the same car CAN represent two different clubs.
- Points are awarded as usual to both driver and navigator based on how the car places in the event.
- The points awarded to both entrants will count as their individual "drivers" points.
- The navigator must take a photo of each checkpoint to prove they were there – ideally a selfie :D Just keep the photos, we will only ask for them if the results need review. Please post them to social media though! #ICCQLD and tag @ICCQLD
- Any additional passengers in the car will not be eligible for points.
- The points from the highest placed eight (8) Entrants from each club are used to calculate the club points.
How is the game scored?
Upon arrival at the car park at the start of the day, an official will record your odometer reading and fill level.
When we return to HomeCo at the end of the tour, a scrutineer will observe you filling your car to full, or the same % you started with for an EV.
Points are awarded by comparing your rated consumption of your car with the actual consumption on the day as a percentage. If you use twice as much fuel or energy as the rating states, then you will get 50 points. If you use half as much, you’ll get 200. A point will be docked for each minute you are behind the cut-off time for each check point. The standing in the points tally will then translate to ICC series points.
How do I prove my car’s economy?
On the entry form you will be asked to supply the official combined rating for your car in l/100km or Wh/km and its make, model, and variant.
You can get this from https://www.greenvehicleguide.gov.au/ for cars sold from 2004 onwards. For older cars, or those without an entry there, you will need to find proof of your car's advertised range, for example, from an old brochure, take a photo, and present it to the scrutineer on the day.
