VIC Cruise - Yarra Ranges Exquisitely Scenic Tour
Join fellow TOCA members on a scenic cruise through the Yarra Ranges, finishing with lunch in Olinda.
Date & Meeting Point:
Saturday 1 June, 8.30-9.30am, The Lilydale General (///treatable.posh.consenting) for breakfast; park opposite in Beresford Road parking area.
Plan for the day:
1. We will start with optional breakfast in Lilydale, then travel through some of the Yarra Valley's best winery districts via the Melba Highway and Yarra Glen, past Lilydale Airport, and then the outskirts of Healesville, to our first half hour stop at Maroondah Dam for a visit and to climb the dam wall! (///taking.coastal.heroism). This first leg is about 32km, or 30mins. Take your time and enjoy the views along the way, especially the old railway aqueducts being restored.
2. We leave the dam and drive over the Black Spur into Marysville for morning tea break (///landmarks.loaning.eyesore). This is one of the most popular scenic drives in Victoria, 30km and around 29mins.
3. Our third leg returns us to Healesville for a short break at Beechworth Bakery/Innocent Bystander Winery (///stat.wooded.automate). There's time to visit the township and if you're a Gin lover, visit Four Pillars Distillery (2A Lilydale Rd; ///bounce.indulges.cockiness). There's a 50kW Evie charger ($) on Church Street if you're desperate (shouldn't need to recharge on this cruise). Again, around a half an hour's drive from Marysville, about 30km.
4. Our final and longest leg (43km; 44mins) sees us going through some areas less travelled to get to Olinda, via Yellingbo, Woori Yallock, and Monbulk, to arrive at late lunch/afternoon tea at Dudley's in Olinda (///implements.airing.stipulated). Lots to visit in Olinda and Sassafras on your way home, or even head to the Sky High Restaurant (///rabbits.cycles.covert) for some views of Melbourne (weather permitting).
