Introduction
TOCA NATIONAL is planning a rail trail riding event for those interested in a leisurely (or faster) bike ride along old disused railway tracks (well, that's what they tell me - get off the track if you hear a whistle) around the scenic Victorian countryside. All fitness levels are welcome. This event was formerly an ACT TOCA event but given the popularity across States, we have transformed this into a National event.
The event will be over 5 days in Victoria. BYO bike or hire one nearby. There are plenty of riding options. The track is suitable for Touring, Mountain, Electric or Hybrid bikes. Road/racing bikes are not suitable. The trails are paved some of the way but there are spots where the surface is gravel. We will also plug in some sightseeing.
We also book into some marvellous cafes and restaurants as a group. These places are hand-picked and all the work is done for you. You simply ride and enjoy.
Children
Children are welcome but parents may need to do a turnaround early with them as the trails can be quite long (up to 50 kms). Not suitable for younger children.
Please keep checking this events page each week for additional updates.
Please don't let the riding distances deter you. We take the ride nice and steady and we stop regularly for breaks. However, please do some preconditioning exercises including riding prior to the event to ensure you have some bike fitness.
A general plan will be put up with more detail to attendees once registered. However, below is a rough sketch.
If you can take the Friday and Monday off work, please do so and enjoy the extra short ride and lunch with the group!! It is a public holiday in NSW and ACT on Monday 5 October 2026.
Rail Trail Information and History
The rides take you through some breathtaking countryside beside trickling brooks and through amazing forests. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a small country town while enjoying a lunch or dinner. These events are highly sought after by TOCA Members and we have riders coming back year after year.

From Family to Keen Trail Bikers
We plan to keep the trip open to all skill, fitness and age levels. Again, depending on numbers, groups will be the leisurely, intermediate, and extremers. While the aim is not to race but to see the sights, there may be some in the group who are interested in pushing through the trail. Everyone can ride at their own pace.
This is the fourth year the TOCA Rail Trail Biking Event has operated, and we introduced a mini-version in May 2026 to reduce the wait time for the next event. This event is extremely popular so book early to avoid disappointment. The feedback each year to this event has been incredible with everyone enjoying themselves. We have repeat attendees - some have not missed a TOCA Rail Trail event. The group had a mix of serious riders and social riders, and we stopped at various points to allow a regrouping so no one is left behind.
It is also a flexible event. Those wishing to ride more can do so. The options are endless on the rail trails. Key note here is communication for safety purposes.
