Tour and lunch at Cassegrain Wines on Sunday 16th February 2020

Fourteen Teslas carrying thirty TOCA members and guests arrived for our meetup at the Cassegrain Winery, Port Macquarie, on Sunday 16th February 2020.

Cassegrain became the host for the Port Macquarie supercharger early in the history of Tesla's time in Australia.  It forms one of the key stops that makes travel between Sydney and Brisbane or vice versa possible in a single day.

Members used the supercharger network to travel to the event from Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and more locally.  For those travelling from further afield we took the opportunity to support the local area, impacted early in the bushfire season, by staying in Port Macquaire overnight.

Before lunch Alex Cassegrain gave members a behind the scenes tour of the winery and the various stages of fermentation of their award winning wines.  The challenges posed by the recent bushfires to the availability and flavours of grapes was discussed as well as the steps being taken to address the impacts.

After sampling some of the wines and a group photo in the barrel room it was time to move upstairs to the newly opened Two Triple Four restaurant.  Darren and his team thoroughly spoilt us all with fantastic shared grazing plates followed by beautifully prepared mains of chicken, barramundi or vegetarian pasta.

For many the temptation of dessert and coffee was too much to resist before we headed off home!

As previously experienced by many, the Port Macquarie supercharger can be a very expensive place to charge with the cost being measured in multiple boxes of wine to be enjoyed at home another day.  The Rose, Chambourcin and Blanc de Blancs seem to be particular favourites!

Thanks are given to the Cassegrain and Two Triple Four teams and in particular Josh Moses for helping to set up this great event.
