ACT - CRUISE TO YARRANGOBILLY CAVES

It was sunny but chilly early Saturday morning when we left Calwell to drive to north of Kosciuszko National Park. The drive to Cooma takes about an hour and the traffic was light so we had a smooth run.  Stopped at the Tesla Superchargers in Cooma to charge the cars and fuel ourselves with coffee and breakfast at the cafe in the main street.  30 minutes later we were all on the road again.

Drove  through Cooma on the Snowy Mountain Highway through Adaminaby and on into the National Park.  The road into the caves is mostly dirt and we arrived at the information centre around 11, just in time to catch the guided tour of Jellaban Cave with ranger Deb,  She had lots of interesting information for us all about how the limestone caves formed and what causes the different colours in the formations.

We enjoyed a picnic lunch in one of the BBQ areas and afterwards we walked the river and the thermal springs trails.  The colours of the trees really stood out against the beautiful blue sky. Some of our group tested out the thermal springs - 27 degrees! 

By 4pm we started our drive back to Cooma where we topped up our cars and our stomachs and headed back to Canberra.  It was a great event - thanks to the Hetheringtons for the suggestion and a special thanks to Matt and Kim who joined us from the central coast.  We look forward to seeing you both at future events and a reminder to regional NSW TOCA members, the ACT would love to see you at our events.
