Strathgordon Drive and Lunch - 21 May 2023

Tesla owners in Tasmania went on a drive to Strathgordon, deep inside the South West Wilderness area of Tasmania!  The day involved some photoshoots at various scenic locations, along with a fantastic lunch at Pedder Wilderness Lodge.

The day began by gathering at the Fika Time Café at Maydena - about 1 hour and 20 minutes west of Hobart on the Gordon River Road.  It is also the location of the last DC charger on the route, with a 25 kW DC charger installed by Electric Highway Tasmania in the car park.

Ten vehicles arrived and they (and their passengers) topped up with coffee, food and electrons. Notably, one member (Aurelien) arrived with his new (to him) Model X - as opposed to the Model Y he had at February's event at Devil's Corner!

A couple of the vehicles were Derwent Valley locals who were checking in and saying hello - the other eight vehicles departed westwards in convoy a bit before 11:30am.

We arrived at Pedder Wilderness Lodge - ironically, the sole 22 kW AC charger was in use by a Volvo XC40!  We had a fantastic lunch at Twelvetrees Restaurant overlooking Lake Pedder, interspersed with conversation about our stories of ordering, delivery, road trips and other experiences.

Afterwards, we continued on to another couple of locations to do a few photoshoots - and for the grand finale, a walk down and (for some of us) across the Gordon Dam - the sources of much of the energy that powers our Teslas!

Many thanks to everyone who attended - enjoy some of the pictures from the event below.
