Top End Teslas Light Up Darwin's Night Sky
20th August 2024

Top End Tesla Owners just threw a party that lit up Darwin harbour – literally!
Picture this: over 30 gleaming Teslas, a spectacular Darwin sunset, and around 300 eager spectators gathered at the Fort Hill Parkland on the Darwin Waterfront. What unfolded was Tesla tech magic (a real but undocumented feature), and a running sheet of 10 dazzling lightshows that not only wowed the immediate crowd but were visible from across the harbour.
But let's rewind a bit. Before the main event, our convoy of Teslas met on the edge town before cruising through the city, past the bustling Darwin Festival Park - turning heads and dropping jaws along the way. Talk about making an entrance!
Once at the Waterfront, it was showtime. The event was well promoted, and families sprawled out on picnic rugs and camping chairs, creating a festival atmosphere as they waited for the lightshow to begin. The backdrop was pure Top End beauty – a glorious sunset painting the sky as the last light danced on the water.
The star of the show? Well, apart from our beautiful Teslas, it was the kids! These future EV owners came armed with questions that would stump even the most seasoned Tesla technician. Their curiosity and excitement were infectious, proving that the future of electric vehicles is in good hands.
TOCA (NT) was out in full force, with a stand showcasing loan charging kits and a show vehicle that drew more attention than an egg at Easter. The team fielded questions, helped with photos, and spread the good word about electric vehicles to anyone keen to listen – and there were many!
After the event wrapped up, leaving everyone's retinas pleasantly dazzled, the TOCA crew headed to The Precinct @ the Waterfront for a well-deserved dinner. It was a chance to recharge our own batteries, swap stories, and bask in the glow of a job well done.
We can't wrap this up without giving a massive shout-out to TOCA member Jase Coates, the mastermind behind this spectacular event, and who’s organisation and management skills helped the event run smoother than a Tesla on Autopilot. He was ably assisted on the night, testament again to how genuinely supportive the Tesla community is. Special thanks also to the Darwin Waterfront team who provided the stunning location and vehicle access.
So there it is, Top End Tesla Owners coming together to put on a show as impressive as the cars themselves. If you missed out this time, keep your eyes peeled for the next event – we’ve got the ISS crew on standby for pictures of that one!
